About Me

My photo
Omaha, Nebraska, United States
A midlife mom in the midwest of Nebraska just starting my family. My kids are 9 1/2 months apart because my daughter came 3 months early instead of arriving a year after her brother like she was supposed to. Even the year apart was a huge shocker, let alone at 28 weeks! Life is never dull. They make me laugh all the time. Cooper was born January 24, 2004 and Bella November 15, 2004. I just turned 43 and my husband is two years younger.. I'm a stay at home mom. I love trying new things. I will try anything once,, and even give it a second try just to make sure I really didn't like it the first time. :-\

The other day my 4 year old son brought my 3 year old daughter this buquet of fake flowers he wanted me to buy for him. He wanted her to take them, then they had to dance, then he said they were married. I asked what happens now? he responded "now we become parents".
How cute is that! She wouldn't really take his hands to dance so he badgered her and grabbed her hands and twirled her around. Sometimes they are like an old married couple. Him bossing her around, the bickering like they have known each other for 55 years. Giggling and chasing after each other.

My husband has been wanting to investigate modeling for our kids. so i finally gave in and looked up some agencies in our area. we went to two open calls. one agency wanted all of use as a family. actually what they said at first was "we want him" and they pointed to my husband! hahaha..
then they said they wanted all of us. now this is an agency that from the looks of it and compared to the other we went to, this agency is more midwest area. they are looking for average looking people. Super models are not what the businesses they work with are looking for. It's a midwest market. The other agency was more upscale! for a saturday open call the ladies taking our information and our pictures were dressed like they should be in a wedding instead of working on a saturday morning. The second agency also wanted us to email pictures of the kids so they could include them on their website so when clients came looking for models they could see the kids.
nothing up front with that agency. the first agency it was more like 25.00 for orientation, 60.00 for something else. but that was it. they offered other classes/seminars to help you better get jobs. but it isn't manditory. The first agency asked my husband and I to do a 'read'..lol and walk a cat walk..lol all i kept saying to the lady was " are you insane?!" lol lol We both did a simple read of a pitch and walked the run way.. I of course had a hard time taking it all seriously. The lady said i did a really good job on the read. .{eye roll} lol we'll see where all this goes.

Spray tanning. Thought I just had to try it.

I don't know what came over me. Why I thought I had to try spray tanning in my life time. But I figured it would be better for my skin than fake baking or frying in the natural sun. So yesterday I find a place that has spray tanning and just my luck!, they are having a special on Wednesdays. Only 9.99! So after the kids are bathed and getting stories read to them by their daddy. I decide I'm off to try it since they are open till 10pm. There were 4 other people in line ahead of me and 4 people behind me at 9:30pm. I figured this must be pretty good stuff if this many people are hanging out this late on a Wednesday night for this. The guy instructs me how how to stand, what button to push, what to put on my head and my hands and feet. Arms out like a scarcrow, fingers pointing down, legs open, cloth hair net on head but pulled back over the hair line(you don't want a line on your forehead from the hair net thingy). He stressed the importance of applying the barrier cream lotion on the palms of your hands, finger nails and tops of your feet. So I do all this. Get in the small closet sized booth. See the green light I'm supposed to push. Take the proper stance and push the button. But! As the spray starts to go off spraying up and down my body and i try to hold my breath thinking.." am i supposed to hold my breath? i can't hold it for this long! " HAHAA.. As the machine is spraying me with who knows what chemicals, I'm thinking the whole time,, this is horrible , this is horrible, this is horrible.! The machine stops, i make my turn around as i open my eyes to see where i am. All i can see is like a smoke filled closet. Still wondering,,'what chemicals must i be inhaling'. I stand with my back to the sprayer apparatis and hear it go off again now spraying my back side. As I try to hold my arms out in the scarcrow position and this time my hands fingers pointing up this time. As instructed. Still all the while thinking this is horrible. Thankfully it stops spraying! I grope for the door to get out of what ever deforming cancer causing chemicals i may have subjected myself to. Iopen the door and all this smoke like substance pours our with me. I quickly close the door to trap it inside and away from my lungs and any more damage it can do. There are three small hand towels the tanned worker set out for me to blot the excess chemicals off with. As I dab at my sticky skin I try to understand why people do this,, and on a regular basis for crying out loud! I tell myself I'm never doing this again. And still can't fathem why people do this willingly. The tanned instructor worker guy did tell me that the chemicals would come off on my clothes or fabric but would wash out easily. And the after instructions were that you shouldn't shower or sweat for 6-8 hours after. it was 10pm, all i was planning on doing was going home and going to bed. Ahh great, my bed now will have this stuff on it.! Getting dressed is a little sticky but I manage.
When I get home I reconsider brushing my teeth worried that just the water on my hands and around my mouth with cause some sort of crazy half tan half not tan look on my face. So i go to bed with bad breath. That's ok as sticky and stinky i was feeling there was no way any cuddling was going on that night. My eyelids were even sticky! I blow my nose before going to bed and brown chemicals come out of my nose!! i have tanned the inside of my nose! Great,, more chemicals causing who knows what!
When i wake to take a shower in the morning I was anticipating what the inside of my clothes are going to look like. The inside of my white T shirt was streaked with brownish stains and a few circular brownish nickle sized stains that almost look like blood stains. Just crazy! I had to laugh. Even in the shower the water at the bottom of the stall was initially a tinge of brown.
Not sure if it was the way i slept or what but on the fleshy pad part of my thumb was speckled a brownish orange almost in dots. My pointer finger and thumb seemed then and still does seem darker than the rest of my hand. I think the tops of my hands may have been sprayed twice. I tried to scrub off some of the darkness on my hands and even tried Goo Gone to no availe! It will just have to fade in 7-10 days as the tanned worker revealed. This one experience I don't ever see needing to do again! HAHA. Just horrible!
